today was a pretty chill day we kind of completed everything except for the news letter and wrote some lyrics.

today was a pretty chill day we working on writing a new song and and made ball poster and i just finished commenting on all the blogs so theres that, all in all it has been a good day except for the fact that lunch came about an hour late which made us messed up when serving.
Step Up Week 2 Day 1
Today we printed our ball t-shirts and worked with Victoria more and writing lyrics, I’m still not exactly were i want to be with my verse yet but hopefully i will be by Wednesday. Today I also filled out the form for lunch and got caught with commenting on blogs because we were two day behind.
Step up Week 1 Day 3
Today we finally knew the struggles that people who organize events face, we the admin team sat in a meeting and saw first hand how the complications of the thought process is for trying to set up an event. Let alone throwing one; it takes up to five grand for a small event of 100-150 people. I can’t even imagine throwing one, I was interested in the event because it an event that targets youth by the youth, being youth led. The event touches on all types of topics such as racial discrimination, raising awareness on substance abuse, and things that are apart of our everyday lives.
Step-up Week 1 Day 2
Today we were given insight of B.A.L.L(bicultural active living lifestyle) and how it applies to our daily lives. Personally for me, I am apart of two cultures with me being Somali-american. I have strong sense of cultural identity on both parts, even though sometimes my two cultures clash. In Somali culture we are more conservative than the western cultures of America, were the people end to be more loose with their morals. But in both cultures creativity is praised and loved, finding solutions are also praised in Somali culture. We value poetry and oral traditions, we tribes used to feud both tribes would send their poets and it never ended in bloodshed since words are valued.
Step Up Week 1 Day 1
while it’s fun being back again for another summer I tend to always dislike orientation week be it work or school, because I am bored and maybe its the award atmosphere because not everyone is as close to each other as they will be next week or 8 weeks from now. All in all I think I like this group even if they are quite than the bunch from last year, i also think that we learn some pretty important things such as financial management which I wish I thought about before I blew my money. but I guess that something I could work on this summer.
