My first week was pretty complicated but I got the hang of it a little bit. Animaker is not the easiest website to work , I don’t understand how to work it but its very fun to play around with. I am enjoy working with Asia Media Access. It was a struggle waking up everyday early in the morning because Im not really a morning person so it was kind of hard for me to adjust to waking up like that. Other then that Im looking forward to seeing what else we have planned for the rest of this summer.
StepUp 2020- First week
This past week has been an interesting experience that varied from day-to-day. It was new and confusing at first and admittedly even a bit now, but as the week progressed it became easier. This year’s internship structure is really different from what was planned earlier this year because of the pandemic, and the way we communicate through zoom rather than face to face. That itself presents its one challenges but I can tell that everyone is trying their best to help make this experience as smooth and beneficial as possible. Learning to use tools like Animaker and Storybird did take some practice along with trial and error but I was able to create some pieces that I am proud of. –Salma Hashi
Step up shadiya week 1
For the first week of step up I can say its very educational overall. I learned how to create animations on animakers and make comics on story birds all in couple days. I have hope that in the end of this 6 weeks I’m gonna come out a better educated person on more topics going on through community.
step up, ama week one, day five
over the past five days that i have been participating in the step up program, i’ve learned about several things including; how to work animaker, good financial habits as well as furthering my knowledge on the dangers of drug (specifically tobacco) use.
Step-up/ Week 1 Day 5
Today was the end of my first week ever at Step-up. I really enjoy the internship I am currently participating in because I have the opportunity to learn about computer editing while getting paid. The instructor is also very friendly and tries his best to help us when needed. My favorite editing skill I learned so far is the voice over because its fun to see how my voice changes with just a click of the button.
Step Up Internship: Week 1
Hey, I’m Michelle. This was my first week interning at AMA. It’s going really good. The adults have been kind and informative. I’ve learned more about financing and tobacco prevention. I also learned how to use new websites to create postcards and animations. These are easy to do because I’m a fast learner, and Stephen is patient, answers every question, and does a good job at explaining the different parts of the websites. Although we experience some technical difficulties, we make it work, and I’m still learning something new everyday. Overall, the first week of interning at AMA has been fairly easy and enjoyable. I hope through these next five weeks, I continue to gain more skills and knowledge, and create work to show my experience here.
This is also my second year doing Step Up, but my first year being at AMA. I already had some experience with digital video editing, photography, and photoshop because I take classes during school and make content outside of school. I’m really passionate about this because my father is my inspiration, and I also just enjoy creating videos and photos for others to look at.
This is a link to the first animaker/animation I made this week. As it says in the short description, it’s just a mini introduction about me.
Step Up Week 1 Day 5
This is my second year with Step Up and my first year with Asian Media. I really like the work we are doing on Animaker and on StoryBird. I’ve learned how to add audio and music. I’ve found some great art on StoryBird to post with. It’s really fun. There have been some challenges. I am sure there more to come for a beginner like me and I am sure I will overcome them. I hope to learn more about creating media.
Black and White
Written by Keng Thao.

I decided to title it as Black and White because in the image you can see is a shape filled with black, with a white background and the opposite of the other shape is filled with white and a black background. I moved the lines around because I wanted it to make it seem like one was speaking from side to other and where yin and yang are separated to create that balance. The shape represents people. I wanted to use the picture and explain that in a person, we all are filled with darkness and light, but it’s our choice on how much we are willing to be consumed by good and evil. Together with having another color of gray, I found there could be a balance. With balance one will help lift up the other. Just as in evil there’s good and in good there’s evil. I found this to be meaningful because I felt like in times when we think bad about ourselves, we don’t seem to realize how much good we have inside of us. What I found surprising was how much I was able to use the colors of black and white to portray it in a person. I had a hard time thinking about what I could use it for, but reflecting back on myself, I noticed I am also a person who struggles to balance. With the line “In the split of time, one will be consumed” means that eventually one will take over and it will be something that you don’t want to be either inside or outside of you. With the last line, I wanted to end it with a good message and in the sense of saying we are given the choice to make use of something and with the colors black and white, it’s the same of either having it dark the whole time or find a way to turn it up brighter.
I hope you all take away something from this and continue to stay positive.

Pandemic- Covid-19
Hello My name is Keng and I will be posting up posts for the next few months!
During this Pandemic, I have find more things about myself. Things that I never had the chance to sit back and really have a talk with my own conscious. Being in quarantine I found it to be a good and a bad thing, for most they look it as a negative way, but for others it’s also a way of helping them. As this pandemic still going on, In a time like this, it really shows the true colors of people out in the world. Many has been hurt, killed and hospitalized. Emotionally, physically and emotionally. Instead of helping each other in a time like this, we tend to hurt, blame and accused. To have furthermore situations like this, I think we should all educate ourselves and others who doesn’t know much and give them them the most knowledge and resources provided as much as possible.
Here is a website I checked and read about Covid- 19. Great tips here that may help you, so check them out!

During quarantine I try to reach out and help others as much as I can. Once, I was sick for about 4 weeks and had a sore throat. I took every medicine I could think of, but nothing had really helped. I stayed calm and decided to wait of for a bit and just continue taking my meds. Even when I wasn’t in a good condition, I sometimes message my friends and family to see how they’re doing. I would do my best to avoid distance when I go outside to buy groceries. Being stuck here at school has been tough, but I’m glad I have upper class mans who is willing to help students like me get to places or if we need help with anything. They were like heroes. Heroes who doesn’t wear capes, but with a good heart.
Stay safe, be aware and make sure to wash your hands! Remember to reach out for help and check up on your love ones!
